Club Rugby In Wales
This season sees the Club celebrate its 125 th Anniversary, a momentous achievement under any circumstances. We have arranged a series of matches against sides such as Pontypool , Newport , Crosskeys and Crawshays to supplement what appears to be a strong Division 3 East programme.
This will give new coaches, Chris Bailey and Mike Young and their squad of players, ample opportunity to play some serious rugby.
The Club is investing heavily in itsYouth structure with the creation of a Development Section under the directorship of Ian Evans. Along with coaches, Andy Allen, Darren Colcombe and Colin Knight, Ian will be running an Under 19’s and Under 17’s side and will be linking directly with this year’s Under 16’s. We are convinced that developing our own strong squad of players is the only reasonable way forward.
On a personal note, I would like to offer sincere thanks to Councillors Nye James and Gwyn Coles and both Robbie Evans and Bryan Rowland for their practical and financial help in the close-season refurbishment of the club’s changing rooms.
Finally, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the sides who visit the King’s Head during our celebratory season. Notwithstanding the result of any match, let us all hope that Rugby is the winner. Along with Bryn Parker (Team Manager) and John Hopkins (Club Captain) I offer Best Wishes to One and all..
